The 2018 Trevor Smith Home Run Derby is open to all Petaluma leagues – Petaluma Valley, Petaluma National and Petaluma American families and to non-little leaguers who just want to have some fun.
NEW THIS YEAR – EL DORADO MEXICAN GRILL TACO TRUCK and KONA ICE TRUCK will be there and will donate a portion of the day’s sales back to the Trevor Smith Foundation.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
-Sign up by emailing the firstname.lastname@example.org to get your 99 pledges link.
-This link can then be shared with family and friends to get pledges for your child.
-Show up at Petaluma American Little League Major Field at 9 am on Sunday, April 15th.
-Your child will get to hit a certain number of pitches
-Each fence line will be moved up according to age group that hits (so the little guys will have a chance to get a “homerun” as the fence is much closer – we get movable fences for the day)
-HAVE A BLAST at the fields, KIDS have so much fun watching everyone, AND it’s a time for all 3 leagues to get together for a GREAT CAUSE
-ALL MONEY RAISED goes to the Trevor Smith Foundation (for more information on Trevor Smith, you can visit their foundation website at http://www.trevorsmithfoundation.com/ or like their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Trevor-Smith-Memorial-Foundation-813572848720926/ to follow all the great work they do in our community.)
-Teams with the most participation will be awarded with a pizza party!
Pamela Smith and her family started this foundation after their 13-year old son was tragically killed in a vehicle accident. He loved baseball and a memorial field was dedicated to him now known as Smith Field at the American League fields behind the Lucchesi soccer field. His photographs and memorial plaque are there. As you stand on Major field and look over to Smith Field you can see Trevor looking on to everyone having fun on Major and he truly is an Angel in the Outfield.
Trevor’s memory lives on through the foundation. Through generous private donations and the Foundation’s community fundraisers, they have been able to award financial assistance to the following:
Petaluma Little League – National, American and Valley Leagues
Casa Grande High School LaCrosse; Athletic Edge Fall Baseball; Home Runs for Humanity, Cinnabar Youth Repertory Theater.
Please sign up to support this great foundation and help the youth of Petaluma get scholarships to all the great community programs.
